Ghee is basically a clarified butter, made by removing the
milk proteins/solids. Some people with dairy allergies can tolerate it because
of this. Ghee is 6 syns per tablespoon so is on the same syn value of
other oils. I definitely recommend giving it a try. I love using just a tsp of
ghee to cook mushrooms for breakfast, as it adds a buttery flavour to them.
Ghee can be found at many grocery stores, as it has now
become a more and more popular, failing that it can also be found at Indian
food specialty stores, but I do recommend checking the ingredients which should
be just milk fat. There are some that are artificially made and are not nice at
all.
